Editor’s Pick (PKL)

As the number of days to the next round reduces, the strategy used by the teams will increase. There is more tension in the air. Both for the players, the coach and for us fantasy players on this app. Let’s take a look at the status of the four teams playing today. First match - Bengaluru versus UP. Bengaluru is last on Zone B and don’t have a prayer of hope to make it to the next round. They can still do some damage if they try. Like we saw at the Champions Trophy. UP is third on the table. They do look quite good where they are today.
Bengaluru Bulls - Squad strength: 18 (16 Indian, 2 Overseas)
Defenders –  Ravinder Pahal, Sachin Kumar, Navjot Singh, Pradeep Narwal, Kuldeep Singh, Mahender Singh
Raiders – Rohit Kumar, Ajay Kumar, Sumit Singh, Harish Naik, Sinotharan Kanesharajah, Gurvinder Singh, Rohit, Sunil Jaipal
All Rounders – Sanjay Shrestha, Ashish Kumar, Ankit Sangwan, Amit, Preetam Chhillar
UP Yoddha - Squad strength: 18 (16 Indian, 2 Overseas)
Defenders – Jeeva Kumar, Hadi Tajik, Nitesh Kumar, Gurvinder Singh, Santosh BS, Rohit Kumar, Sanoj Kumar
Raiders – Rishank Devadiga, Sulieman Kabir, Nitin Tomar, Surendra Singh, Mahesh Goud, Ajvender Singh, Gulveer Singh
All Rounders – Rajesh Narwal, Pankaj, Sunil, Sagar B Krishna

My lineup
AR: Sagar Krishna
DF: Mahender Singh, Ravinder Pahal
RA: Ajay Kumar, Nitin Tomar, Rishank Devadiga, Sunil Jaipal

The second match is between Pune and Delhi. Same story. Delhi is last on Zone A Table while Pune is third.
Puneri Paltan - Squad strength: 15 (13 Indian, 2 Overseas)
Defenders – Dharamraj Cheralathan, Girish Ernak, Md. Ziaur Rehman
Raiders –  Rajesh Mondal, Rohit Kumar Choudary, Umesh Mhatre, Akshay Jadhav, More GB, Suresh Kumar, Deepak Niwas Hooda
All Rounders – Takamitsu Kono, Sandeep Narwal, Ravi Kumar, Ajay, Narender Hooda
Dabang Delhi - Squad strength: 20 (18 Indian, 2 Overseas)
Defenders – Nilesh Shinde, Bajirao Hodage, Sunil, Viraj Vishnu Landge, Swapnil Shinde, Satpal
Raiders – Ravi Dalal, Abolfazl Maghsoudlou, Suraj Desai, Rohit Baliyan, Patil Anand, Suresu Kumar, Vipin Malik, Shubham Palkar
All Rounders –  Tapas Pal, Vishal, Meraj Sheykh, Rupesh Tomar, Chetan S, Yatharth

My lineup
AR: Sandeep Narwal, Meraj Sheykh, Deepak Hooda
DF: Girish Maruti
RA: Monu, A Maghsodiou, Rohit Baliyan
I found this lineup harder. Had to drop a couple of good players like Rajesh Mondal and Dharmaraj. Wish I did not have a limit on the salary. Oh well.

Need for co-ed sports

Now, this is hardly a feminist piece. I am not here to tell you that women can do anything that men can and better too. One, you know it too. Two, this is hardly about women. I am not here to praise women and demand better rights. I am talking about the possibility that the entire field of sports can take a whole new meaning if gender is not made the criterion. So this is how the idea for the blog started.
The Women’s Indian Cricket Team performed really well at the world cup this year. Mithali Raj praised her team for their hard work, persistence, and passion for the game. She also added that there should be an IPL tournament in the country for the women’s team now. Raj believes that the team’s fantastic game has increased the fan following for the women’s team as well and that they have earned their place here.
While I am honestly not sure about an IPL tournament for women, it did get me thinking. Why not mixed sports? Now that girls play almost all the games that the guys do, why n…

Peshawar Zalmi vs Multan Sultans - Post Match Blog.

The bigger they are, the harder they fall. Ain't it true. Newcomers Sultans thrash Peshawar Zalmi by 7 wickets in PSL 2018 opener sending shockwaves through the league. Being a defending champion did take a toll on Peshawar Zalmi. Not easy walking into a tournament with everyone looking at you assuming you will win.

When the Sultans came in to bat, they had an early upset when they lost the opener for a duck. With a target of 152, it took the experienced Kumara Sangakkara to set the ship on course towards the target. He was calm and composed as he has been throughout his international career. Singles and doubles. And planned boundaries. By the time he was out, caught behind, the team was fairly stable. Shoaib Malik’s captain knock along with Kieron Pollard finished the match in style.
Earlier in the day, Peshawar Zalmi came in to bat. Apart from Mohammad Hafeez’s 59, with twenty-something runs from Dwayne Smith and Darren Sammy; the rest of the batsmen barely contributed. Like I s…

Editor’s Pick (Women’s Cricket): India - West Indies

India, fourth on the table, has won her first game while West Indies lost. India has a lot to prove for her country. That She deserves as much love and support as the men in blue. Sad that She has to, but circumstances demand it. West Indies on the other hand are looking for a win to kick start their journey to the final.
It is a win-win situation for both the teams. But then, I want my fantasy lineup to win too. So, for this lineup, I have looked up not only the selection percentage generated by fans’ choice, but also the players’ performance in this tournament so far.
My Team
-Chedean Nation -Mithali Raj -Smriti Mandhana -Punam Raut -Ekta Bisht -Shakera Salman -Shamilia Connel -Poonam Yadav -Meriss Aguilleira -Deepti Sharma -Harmanpreet kaur Let’s hope this clicks. Will you agree with it? Let’s hear some opinions shall we?
