Editor’s Pick(TNPL): Lyca Kovai Kings - Dindigul Dragons

Most teams have by now played three matches. The Tuti Patriots top the table with three wins from all three matches. With six points and a run rate of +1.004, the Patriots are on top of their game. They are the defending champions and they have what it takes to defend their title. The Chennai team have two wins from two matches. They are third on the table because their run rate (+0.613) is less than that of VB Thiruvallur Veerans who also have two wins. But from three matches.
Today’s match is between Lyca Kovai Kings - Dindigul Dragons. Kovai has one win from two matches. The Dragons have one win from three matches but have a better run rate. End of the day, the run rate still matters. England or India.

Let’s take a look at one possible lineup. Don’t think Murali Vijay is playing. R Ashwin is playing for India so he is not available either. You can pick K Vignesh. He is in good form.

IPL 2014 - Mumbai Indians team analysis

The Mumbai Indians have always been the high-flying team of IPL.  They had the big buys in almost every year of IPL and kept a very high profile.  And over the last couple of years, they have started matching their performance with their profile – with wins in IPL 2013 and Champions League in 2011 and 2013.  Let us see how their team looks this year. Rohit Sharma, Mike Hussey, Ambati Rayudu and Apporv Wankhade are the pure play batsmen in the team.Corey Anderson, Keiron Pollard, Shreyas Gopal and Jalaj Saxena are the all rounders.CM Gautam, Ben Dunk, Sushant Marathe and Aditya Tare are the wicket keepers.Lasith Malinga, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Jasprit Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood, Marchant de Lange, Krishmar Santokie & Puwan Suyal are the bowlers.
The bowling looks pretty good with Malinga, Zaheer, Bajji and Ojha. The batting is strong at the top – with Rohit Sharma and Mike Hussey, but looks weak beyond those two.The power in the team comes from the two big guns – Cor…

India-NZ. As it happened.

And the series is leveled. Well. We saw the ODI series level. The third and final match was more than a blast. Despite having a ton of runs on the scoreboard, the match and the series could have gone either way. That was the best part of it. Course it was a world of entertainment for all cricket fans. Honestly even a third party not emotionally vested in the two teams could watch and appreciate the demonstration of fine cricket. Now the T20 series is looking the same way. India won the first match and NZ came back strong and hard in the second match. The match deciding the fate of the tournament is on 7th November. Boy are we interested or what. Let’s see what happened in the second match now.

New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat. A supreme not out 58 ball 109 runs by Colin Munro took New Zealand to the path of destruction. I mean look at the strike rate - 187.93. That is a mind blowing number. The other batsmen didn’t do that bad either. Martin Guptil’s 45 runs from 41 deliver…
