Editor's Pick: England - South Africa (TEST)

I have been watching cricket for a while now. When it comes to the international matches, my instinct is always to pick the man who has been around a while. For me, experience almost always takes preference. There have been exceptions of course. But today is not that day.

England and South Africa met for a three match T-20 and are now set to face each other for the test series. Having met so recently, they are fairly familiar with each other and will be prepared.

Philander is declared fit to play for SA. Rabada and Morkel have my vote. Dean Elgar will captain if Du Plessis misses the first match ( personal reasons).

England - Hales and Roy will be depended upon. Broad believes he is fit for the match. Joe Root wears the captain’s cap. And he brings in Gary Ballance. England might bring in two spinners along with three fast bowlers for their attack.

This is my lineup for the first test match.

GS Ballance
Dean Elgar
Hashim Amla
Alastair Cook
Joe Root

Kagiso Rabada
Mark Wood
Morne Morkel

Jonny Bairstow

Ben Stokes
Laim Dawson

Need for co-ed sports

Now, this is hardly a feminist piece. I am not here to tell you that women can do anything that men can and better too. One, you know it too. Two, this is hardly about women. I am not here to praise women and demand better rights. I am talking about the possibility that the entire field of sports can take a whole new meaning if gender is not made the criterion. So this is how the idea for the blog started. The Women’s Indian Cricket Team performed really well at the world cup this year. Mithali Raj praised her team for their hard work, persistence, and passion for the game. She also added that there should be an IPL tournament in the country for the women’s team now. Raj believes that the team’s fantastic game has increased the fan following for the women’s team as well and that they have earned their place here. While I am honestly not sure about an IPL tournament for women, it did get me thinking. Why not mixed sports? Now that girls play almost all the games that the guys do, w

Chennai beats Mumbai and clinch thriller

It is not just about coming back. It is about the impact you make in the process. And Chennai team knows how to with a bang.  The Chennai team beat the home team by one wicket in what was an absolute sit-at-the-end-of-the-chair thriller. It was one of the best chases the tournament has seen and it most definitely won't be the last. The player who made the difference in the end - Jadhav - literally came back from the dead after retiring hurt to take his team to the finish line by hitting the ball in style with a six and a four.  Batting on one leg and playing an absolutely unbelievable shot, this player leveled the scores first with a six and finished the match with a four.  Key Points  MI has never won their opener since 2013. This was Chennai's first win against MI in an opener of this T20 League  DRS used in the league for the first time  Bravo : It was a great team effort. I want to dedicate this win to the CSK fan, they have waited long for

Editor’s Pick (PSL T20): Multan Sultans - Islamabad United

PSL 25 Multan Sultans would now wonder what on earth happened. They are still doing well. They are still only one point short of the team that is on top of the table. They are still fourth on the table. With a bad run rate of -0.004. They need to get back on top. Islamabad United, on the other hand, is second on the table and quite pleased with themselves. Defending Champions are second to last on the table and have no idea what happened either. They probably do. Lahore Qalandars are showing signs of life now having won the second match by taking it to the super over level. (Lahore Qalandars defeated Karachi Kings). That was really something. Goes to show that we can neither sign off a team until the last minute nor guarantee that the defending champions are a shoo-in for the next round. Today’s match is between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United. With some brilliant performances being displayed by both teams, this match will be a good clash to watch. The venue moves to
