Women's Cricket World Cup - West Indies

West Indies

The team has an excellent track record. They are the fourth side to win a major tournament after Australia, New Zealand, and England. They are totally capable of causing some major upsets in the world cup 2017. They are the winners of the 2016 World T20 after all.

Squad:

Merissa Aguilleira (wk), Reniece Boyce, Shamilia Connell, Shanel Daley, Deandra Dottin, Afy Fletcher, Qiana Joseph, Kyshona Knight, Hayley Matthews, Anisa Mohammed, Chedean Nation, Akeira Peters, Shakera Selman, Stafanie Taylor (c), Felicia Walters.

Fixtures:

June 26 V Australia
June 29 V India
July 2 V South Africa
July 6 V New Zealand
July 9 V Sri Lanka
July 11 V Pakistan
July 15 V England

Players to watch out for:

Deandra Dottin’s 38 ball century is still talked about. She was the first woman to score a century in T20 world cup. She can do wonders indeed.

Felicia Walters. Opening batsman and part-time spinner. She was named player of the year 2015 and rightly so. She has a lot to do in this tournament.

Captain Stefanie Taylor is the top scorer. Her favourite playing location is England. That’s two points to her advantage. She is a game changer.

Anisa Mohammed is their wicket-taker. She can upset the lineup of the opposition. Considered to be one of the best spinners over the past decade, she carries the hopes of many on her shoulders.

IF the captain clicks, the team is likely to go all the way. Watch out.

Key Players: India - England

When there is nothing left, you will play for pride. That is what India has to do tomorrow. Considering the fact that the match is taking place in Mumbai. Do it for them. Do it for us.  England and Australia will meet each other at the finals on 31st March. India and England are more than likely to go in with the same playing eleven.
India Terribly low on morale, the team will now have to give it their all. They need to know that they are much better than this.

England The team has been doing really well since day one. They will now consider this as a practice match. But they will want to win and go to the finals with confidence. They were thumped by Australia earlier in what can be called as a one-sided game. They want to win this tomorrow.

Editor’s Pick (Nidahas T20): India - Sri Lanka

The table is currently in a very surprising situation. Most expected Sri Lanka to show Bangladesh the door. But here they are still standing up and shining. The tournament is wide open. Today’s match is between India and Sri Lanka. The stakes are much higher now that Bangladesh is more feared than before. The teams would not want to risk anything at this point. Earlier I had said that they might experiment with the lineup and give everyone a chance. Now it will be more than giving people a chance. They will strategize. The Indian team will be open to experimentation, but not at the cost of results.

The untested ones are Deepak Hooda, KL Rahul, and Axar Patel. India has lost to Sri Lanka in their first encounter of this tournament. They will want to be wary because another defeat could cost them the tournament itself. So, not all the new players will see the light today.
A lot depends on Rohit Sharma today. Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Manish Pandey and Dinesh Karthik will chip in too.…
