My Prediction for India in SA

I am going to go out on a limb here and predict this … India would not get quite the thrashing as indicated by the result of the first one-dayer in Jo’berg. In fact, I would even venture to say we might put one or two across the Proteas.
Why would I do that? I saw the Indian innings fully and I noticed there was one difference between this team and the ones from the past on overseas tours … these guys are equally clueless facing up to the short rising or moving ball, but they tried, desperately and with some success, to hang in there. Not everyone – the older ones still are terrible. Yuvraj’s capitulation to Ryan McLaren would have put my grandpa to shame. But Shikar, Rohit & Virat tried gamely. They fell to genuine good balls (Rohit was done in by a panic run from Raina). And as the SA pacers tired a little, MS and even Ashwin looked good for a while.
In cricket, the winners are not always as good as they seem at the end of a big victory, and the losers not that bad.
So, boldly, I predict a 2-1 ODI loss and a 1-0 Test loss, or who knows, even a 1-1 …
What say you guys?

Editor’s Pick (Nidahas T20): India - Sri Lanka

The table is currently in a very surprising situation. Most expected Sri Lanka to show Bangladesh the door. But here they are still standing up and shining. The tournament is wide open. Today’s match is between India and Sri Lanka. The stakes are much higher now that Bangladesh is more feared than before. The teams would not want to risk anything at this point. Earlier I had said that they might experiment with the lineup and give everyone a chance. Now it will be more than giving people a chance. They will strategize. The Indian team will be open to experimentation, but not at the cost of results.

The untested ones are Deepak Hooda, KL Rahul, and Axar Patel. India has lost to Sri Lanka in their first encounter of this tournament. They will want to be wary because another defeat could cost them the tournament itself. So, not all the new players will see the light today.
A lot depends on Rohit Sharma today. Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Manish Pandey and Dinesh Karthik will chip in too.…

IPL so far

The tournament is halfway through. There have been some brilliant performances and some worth forgetting. The T20 fever has gripped the country with intensity. Come evening, and cricket fans sit in front of the television, with the phone in their hands. This is to follow not just the men on the fields but also their very own fantasy team that they have created on the Fantain App.
Let’s have a look at how the eight teams have played so far. Going in the order of points on the table
